Mrs. Candace Outlaw:

I graduated from E.C.U - Go Pirates!!!!!!  I received my B.S. in Elementary Education in 1997, and remained at East Carolina for a MaEd. in Reading K-12.  I graduated with my Masters in 1999, and was married within the same year to Bill Outlaw (who was a "local boy" of Mt. Olive, but also attended E.C.U., and pitched for the E.C.U. baseball team)!  He's the GREATEST!!!!!!
I began teaching 1st grade in Duplin County, but transferred to Carver Elementary when an opening was available in kindergarten.   In 2003, we became the parents of a handsome baby boy named Gage!  He was able to share in the excitement of me receiving my National Board Certification in 2004 - and BOY, was Mama EXCITED!!!!!  Gage is currently an 8th grader at MOMS!
In 2006, we added a little "drama" to our lives when March rolled around.  We had a baby girl who we named Maggie Reece.  She is a 5th grader at MOMS!
I am currently working on my 18th year of teaching, and I am having more fun at Carver, and teaching 1st grade, than I could ever imagine.  Mrs. Lewis and I have a great time every single day - we make a great team!
Mrs. Carlia Lewis:
I graduated from U.N.C. with a degree in Psychology in 1986. I got married in 1988 to W.K. Lewis, a.k.a. "Dubs".   In 1990, we had our first daughter, Casey.  Then in 1991,  Hannah came along, and our family was complete.
I stayed at home to raise my two girls, and became familiar with Carver Elementary once they started school.  I worked at Carver in many different capacities, but found my true calling when I was offered a position in Kindergarten (now 1st grade), and teamed up with Mrs. Outlaw.  I find it very lucky to combine work and fun on a daily basis!
